Anna
Square is a monument dedicated to the great
leader of the Dravidian Movement Anna Durai.
It lies to the north of Marina beach. The
Anna Square has another memorial dedicated
to MG Ramachandran. The Dravidian Movement
led to the establishment of the leading
political part of Chennai – The AIADMK.
The memorial is
placed at he centre of a lavish park.
The mortal remains of Annadurai are placed
here. The park has a magnificent entrance
which is the form of elephant tusks converging.
There is a small tomb at Anna square.
The park is spread across a vast area
and apart from the park at Anna square
there are other smaller areas of recreation
like a small safari park, a nocturnal
animal house and an aquarium. There is
also a museum located which has some interesting
artifacts and picture gallery.
The Anna Square is a monument of great
reverence to the famous leader of the
state. The place is also a huge relief
from the hustle and bustle of the city.
There are hundreds of visitors coming
to Anna square daily. The place is easily
accessible through public transport.
