been great patrons of all forms of art.
Hence, it is but natural that the city has
a lot of art galleries to its credit. Art
galleries flourish in Chennai as there are
a lot of patrons within the city. A large
number of tourists also visit these places.
The quality of the art galleries in terms
of the artifacts exhibited here are superlative.
Some of the famous
art galleries here include the one at
Cholamadalam Artistes village. All the
exhibits of the artistes are exhibited
in this gallery and include sculptures
and paintings of superior quality. This
is in the ECR road. Ayya art gallery at
Woods Road is also a popular art gallery
in the city. Palazzo art gallery adorns
the Alwarpet region of Chennai with its
exquisite collection of artifacts.
Raasi art gallery in Adayar is a well
known art gallery with artifacts that
reminds us of the era of the Cholas, Cheras,
Pandyas, pallavas, Vijayanagar Empire
and so on. The Prakrit Art Gallery was
set up by the famous Gujarati Artiste
Mr. V. Solanki and has organized various
painting exhibitions from artistes from
all over the country. Other famous art
galleries include Art World in Ganeshpuram,
Ashvita Art Objects & Artifacts in
Mylapore, and Vinnyasa Premier Art Gallery
also in Mylapore.

There is an art gallery, entirely devoted
to the traditional Tanjore paintings, called
the Tanjore Creations located in Mandaveli.
The gallery has a lot of stained glass paintings,
woodcarvings and brassware. Not to miss
is the National Art Gallery which has been
in the lines of the Mughal architecture.
It has a lot of paintings pertaining to
the Mughal, Rajasthani and Deccan flavors.
