Kamaraj Memorial House

kamaraj memorial houseThe Kamraj Memorial House was inaugurated by the famous Chief Minister of Tamilnadu – MG Ramachandran in the year 1978. Kamraj proved to be an idol for millions as a poor man going ahead and becoming the Chief Minister thrice. Kamraj in his early days was so poverty stricken that the had to discontinue his education, However his passion for books continued and one could see the well stocked library with a collection of some of the most interesting books.

A lot of articles that were of personal use to the great leader have been displayed in his bedroom. The dining room is marked by the display of his photographs with some of the stalwarts of Indian politics like the Gandhi Nehru families and other former prime ministers and presidents of India. One can also see a picture of Kamraj with Queen Elizabeth and Martin Luther King. The Kamaraj Memorial House exemplifies the simplicity of this man’s living.

It is a double storey building, wherein his luxurious shawls received during felicitations can be seen. Also displayed is his personal attire which is extremely simple and sober. Other personal belongings on display include his pens, utensils, suitcase, and timepiece and so on. The Kamaraj Memorial House is located in TP Road T Nagar.
