 Chennai
has always been a progressive
metropolis that has been
expanding its boundaries
continually. Chennai is
synonymous with the Marina
beach. This famous beach
in Chennai has the distinction
of being the second largest
beach in world with the
beach stretching to 4.5
kms. The place can be
very crowded on weekends
and holidays.
Apart from taking a dip
in the sea water, there
are other facilities also
other ways for recreation
here. One can take a ride
on horseback or visit
the aquarium or just spend
time at the host of sporting
activities round there.
Traditionally this beach
is filled with joggers
in the morning. The trip
down the Marina Beach
is a relaxing experience
from the fast paced life
of the city.
There have been several
monuments built on the
shore. They include Anna
and MGR memorials, Indo
Saracenic buildings, statues
of heroes from Tamil culture
and so on. The beach also
has a lot of stalls for
food stuff like Murukku,
sundal and the usual ice
creams and so on. It is
a very entertaining experience
to just watch the multitude
of people who throng the
beach to watch the sunset.
The sea waters are not
very rough and generally
safe.
