 As
the name suggests this
monument is a collection
of five memorials. These
can be seen in the Guindy
area of Chennai. The Pancha
Mandapams have been erected
to honor our national
leaders and Martyrs of
the country.
The five memorials pertain
to different legendary
personalities. One is
the Gandhi Mandapam which
is characterized by the
temple Gopuram styling,
is obviously dedicated
to the Father of the Nation.
The next comes the Kamaraj
memorial dedicated much
loved former chief Minister
of the state. The Kamaraj
Mandapam is characterized
by the Charkha wheel on
top of the memorial. A
memorial drenched in Pink
can be seen which the
Rajaji memorial dedicated
to C. Rajagopalachari
the first Governor General
of India. Included among
these are the memorials
of Bhaktavalsalam, the
former chief Minister
of Chennai and the Martyrs
who laid down their lives
for the cause of the Nation’s
freedom.
The Pancha Mandapams are
located in Guindy and
can be easily visited.
It is on of the ways to
pay homage to the great
leaders of this beautiful
